Weifang Gr
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is at Weifang 30 km west of Youn'an City, Fujian. The Weifang Gr was named by Fujian Team of Regional Geological Survey in 1975, and was published by Zhu Yulin (1991).
Synonym: (魏坊群)
Lithology and Thickness
The group is represented by a turbidity sequence. It is composed dominantly of feldspar-quartz greywacke, metamorphosed siltstone and phyllitic mudstone. In the type area, the Weifang Gr recorded an incomplete thickness of 545 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests conformably on the Dongkengkou Gr (Dongkengkou Fm) of late Cambrian.
Upper contact
Regionally, the next younger unit is the Luofengxi Gr of Late Ordovician

Fossils
It yields graptolite D. (Expansograptus) aff. hirundo, with micropaleoplants in the upper part. Luo Jinding et al. (1980) first reported the graptolites from the Weifang Gr, then Zhu (1991) reported the micropaleoplants.
